Summer Time Volleyball News

Hi Everyone! Please pardon the long amount of time between blog posts. Now that both of my assistants have taken other jobs, advancing their careers, there is a lot more work I have to do to keep from falling too far behind. First and foremost is finding new assistants! We do have our new GA in place. Her name is Holly Hicks and we are REALLY excited about adding Holly to our staff. She is a two time first team all Lone Star Conference honoree and an all Academic selection in the conference as well coming out of East Central University. Holly is a dynamic player and an excellent student. Her competitive nature and desire to be great in ALL aspects of her life will certainly fit in well here at ASU.

Our search for a new 1st assistant coach is near completion. Our top candidate will be at camp next week to meet our returners and work with our incoming freshman and other recruits. I will hold off on mentioning their name until we make it official, but this person's resume is off the charts. I am excited about potentially adding this person to our program.

Speaking of camp, our position camps are next Monday and Tuesday June 14-15. There are still spaces available in all three camps. We offer a setter camp, a hitter camp and a defensive camp for all positions including DS and Liberos. Our All-Skills camps are June 16-18 for kids in grades 4-7 and 8-12. We are running satellite camps at Sonora HS, Junction HS, Central HS, Bexar County Volleyball Academy and Tejas Volleyball Club. We are also hosting our 2nd annual Team Competition Camp July 29 and 30. UIL prevents coaches from helping organize team camp opportunities, so parents need to get involved. Angelo State Belle Volleyball is also on Facebook. We are looking to really increase the number of followers we have. If you are not a member of our Facebook page, please join and invite all of your friends. It is our goal to have over 500 followers by the start of our preseason and 750 by our first home match.
